Yubeng Sacred Waterfall 雨崩神瀑

So here I am, many moons later, finally writing part 2 of my Yubeng hiking trip 雨崩徒步之旅 with mum and our new found friends from FunTravelMag.

Yubeng is a small village somewhere in Yunnan China, only accessible on foot. It is a true hidden gem many don't know about, including the locals. To read about part 1, our journey into the village, link here. Mule and plenty of footwork were involved.

Day 2 at Yubeng

For our first night, we were staying at Yubeng Upper Village. The next day, we made our way down to Yubeng Lower Village. Simply because eventually, we'll exit from the Lower Village anyways.

The journey to Yubeng lower village was very much a scenic stroll. We came across a bridge with a fairly interesting name, "The cold-hell bridge". Mainly because of the swift current below.

About 1.5 hours later, we finally made it to Yubeng lower village and settled-in at our accommodation for the next 2 nights. It was almost like an instant upgrade. The room was so much more spacious and in general, a lot more comfortable.

View right outside of our accomodation

With very little time to waste, we ingested some carbs, quickly gathered our day pack, and headed out to conquer Yubeng sacred waterfall.

Yubeng Sacred Waterfall

Along the way, we saw some really odd stones arrangement at what seemed to be a dried out riverbank. To me, it felt almost borderline creepy.

The whole way up, we just get this crazy view of the snowy mountain and it's almost impossible to get bored of it.

It took us about 3 hours to get to the sacred waterfall 神瀑.

The Tibetan people believe that taking a shower under the Yubeng sacred waterfall will help cleanse your soul and spirit. They also believe that the water will be able to bring you good fortune. In addition to that, the waterfall is thought to be spiritual and will only bless those who are kind-spirited in nature.

Like most other spiritual sites in Tibet, circling around a sacred site needs to be done in a clockwise direction and much better to be in odd numbers. We walked around the base of the fall 3 times whilst wishing for good health and prosperity.

Journey back to Yubeng Lower Village wasn't too bad albeit it was almost another 3 hours hike. And with a view as such, it was well worth it.

Behind the scene: Part of me was admiring the view but complaining about the pain. Whereas mum's motivation that kept her going was being reminded of being able to get a shower once we get back to the village.
