Bidding farewell to 2018

Career wise

I was given plenty of exposures and opportunities. Launched my first project as a “biz lead”, of course with plenty of help and guidance from seniors. Seeing it come to live from just a concept was “touching” but being able to be involved in every step was extra satisfying. Not long after that, I expanded my role to managing a series of projects which was (and still are) crazy scary and nerve wrecking. Everyday I’m learning and everyday there’s a new piece of puzzle to unravel.

Adventure time

I get to explore China (April) at places even the locals don’t know about. Discovered local waterfalls and hiking trails in Malaysia that I’ve never been on, even conquered Malaysia’s highest peak Mount K (Sept). Travelled to Hokkaido (July) checking off another prefecture; went back Melbourne (Sept) for a short getaway and had a pretty scary exciting trip to the Philippines (Dec).

Fitness and/or health

I completed my first ever half-marathon but 2018 was also the year where issues on my knee and spine started surfacing in the form of x-ray images. Injury that reminds me to be mindful of my slowly degenerating body (present tense because that particular injury has yet to recover after almost 3-4 months now... damnit).

Personal development (or rather Misc.)

Challenged myself to do things I normally wouldn't. Took up presidential role at Maxis Toastmasters Club; tried out dance class (only once but I'd take that as a "win"); and even emceed for an event.

Growing up

Not sure if this is in the right category but I've attended 3 weddings and a birthday party, for my friend's child. Gone were the days were 21st birthday bashes were a thing, now my Facebook feed is just flooding with engagement news.

But all of those were just scratching the surface. Hearts were broken (both mine and others) and mental well-being was constantly challenged.

So this year, first thing first, I will attempt (again) to untangle the mess I got myself into. And perhaps adding in something more realistic to achieve, I will start tracking my expenditure.

2019, please be kind.
