What happened in Vegas?
Las Vegas is known for its 24 hour casinos, vibrant nightlife, cheap buffets and non-stop entertainment. There's a range of hotels to pick and choose from of which almost all (if not all) have a casino conveniently located within.
Me and cousin brothers in a hire limo |
We were in Vegas for 2 nights but it wasn't a consecutive stay. We stayed for a night after a long bus ride from San Francisco. The next day, we travelled down to Grand Canyon (read about my trip to Grand Canyon, or rather Arizona here). Upon returning from the wilderness, we came back and stayed in Vegas for another night.
Night 1
Check out my Lego collections
If I ever open a bar in Malaysia, I'd call it beer"haus" too. (Haus means thirsty in Malay) |
Night 1 involves a pink ride. We decided to be fancy and hired a bright pink limousine! But family trip never gets it opportunity to be rowdy lol so it was a very (extremely) tame party.
the interior is sick af! |
We had a few pitstops with the pink limousine...
Pitstop #1: Las Vegas Sign
Get to the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" and take a photo with it. That place was actually quite crowded and filled with tourists like us lol!
Pitstop #2: Alcohol
Find a beer cave.
Pitstop #3: Mirage Volcano
Catch the Mirage Volcano show right outside of The Mirage hotel-casino located on the Strip between Flamingo and Spring Mountain Road. It involves 2 volcano system, a lagoon and fire shooters that shoot fire up to 12 feet in the air.
Pitstop #4: Fremont Street
Experience downtown Las Vegas at Fremont Street. More amazing lights display and street buskers in very odd costumes.
I found myself a d*ck that night!

Me and my cousin brother got randomly asked on the street if we'd like some "goodies" and when we politely declined, they gave us flowers instead lol!
Also, very important! To feel like you're part of this lively street, make sure to get yourself one of this really long margaritas slushies.
and catch FREE shows! woohoo. Score. Anything that's free is a win.
Pitstop #5: Las Vegas Strip
By the time we were done with Freemont Street, we have used up all the hours we had with the hired pink limo. So, we requested to be dropped off somewhere in the bustling centre of Las Vegas and just explored the place a little bit more by foot.
SUPPER
So as the elders have gone back to their hotel rooms, I had my mind fixed on one and just this ONE place. Not the casino but...
GORDON RAMSAY BURGER!!! Not sure if it's because I have hyped up this place in my own head but the burger tasted mad good.

Ordered the Hog Burger (USD18). Mangalitsa pork and bacon with cheddar cheese, pickles and crisp onions. What's Mangalitsa pork? It's like "kobe" but the pork version. Known as "hog with a lot of lard". No wonder the patty was so moist!
Thick cut fries with truffle parmesan and truffle aioli (USD$11).
This was so-so, everything you'd expect for a fries with truffle seasonings.
Must admit it is slightly towards the pricey range but I cannot NOT try it. That would be a crime.
I must have shown my excitement a little too much because the waiter gave me a pen from the restaurant as a souvenir. However to date, my cousin brother insists that the waiter gave me the pen to write him an extra big juicy tip and not to bring it back home HAHA. Doesn't matter, I took the pen home that night.
And FYI. It is compulsory to tip the waiting staffs in USA. Usually the rate is between 10-15% on top of your bill.
Fast forward... (after Grand Canyon...)
Night 2
No, we didn't get ourself another pink ride. Once is more than enough. Instead, we spent most of our time just strolling and getting distracted by the lights.
Supper
Again... all the elders went back to their hotel rooms to rest whilst the remaining soldiers were determined to get food. It was raining that night but anything for the love of food. YUMS. Blackhole (referring to my stomach) needs to be satisfied.

We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and got ourself some margaritas, wings and cheese sticks. Not too shabby. #fatdieme

Cheese stick was surprisingly light. So it wasn't "jelak" at all.
Buffalo wings have always strike me as a very American's snack. So I kind of have some sort of an expectation towards it. Plus, I'm a big fan for anything fried/crispy, drenched in sauce making this dish not a difficult one to impress. But the thing is, I don't remember exactly how it tasted like; and did not have a recollection of "ohmaigaaawwddd". So I guess it was just okay?
Andddddd... that was what happened in Vegas!
